mom, dad & the kids livin' the dive life, family-style!
|
For PADI Diving Society members Nolo (Dad), Monica (Mom), Leo and Christian Ambrosi, living the dive life has become a tight-knit family affair.
Together they own and operate PADI 5-Star IDC Ocean Encounters and Toucan Diving dive shops on the southern Caribbean island of Curaçao.
Originally from Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, their path to Curaçao led through Indonesia and, of all places, Oklahoma.
Nolo, who was once vice president of international operations for an oil company, brought the family to Oklahoma in 1983. Meanwhile, Monica, with a
major in translations and languages, founded Aquarius International Services. Together they raised a family, became American citizens and worked for
20 years in a state whose pinnacle dive experience is a descent into Tenkiller Lake, which they visited often - especially Monica, Christian and Leo.

In 2002, they decided to change their lifestyle and bought Ocean Encounters Dive Center. Monica and Nolo run the well-oiled daily operations with the
business acumen learned in 20 years of corporate life. Leo, with a Masters Degree in Marine Resource Management from Texas A&M and Christian OE's
Course Director spend their free time technical diving into the twilight zone of Curaçao's deeper waters. Two years ago they discovered the wreck
of the Stella Maris at 350 feet. The family spends lots of time on the dive boats leading guests to some of Curaçao's famous dive sites.
Ocean Encounters is renowned in the dive world, and much of that success is due to the fact that the family has a true passion for sharing and growing
the world's ultimate adventure sport.
